Mt. Sac Jiu Jitsu tourney

Reporting from the Mt. San Antonio College Jiu Jitsu tournament where it crowned several champions this past weekend. Over hundred students competed in various weight classes, including a women’s division who ended up stealing the show. There were a few injuries but one major that was heard clear across the gymnasium and manages to get everyone ones attention. “He dislocated his elbow during the match, he was caught with an Americana (key lock) and didn’t tap which caused the snap,” Said Steve del Castillo the event coordinator. The turn out was great there was much support from fellow students and parents who attended the tournament. Every semester this event has grown in numbers according to del Castillo, “there are more students enrolling in the Jiu Jitsu class and the tournament has been held in the wrestling room on campus before, but it can’t house all the spectators that have been coming to watch,” said del Castillo. The tournament ran smooth and competitors did not have to wait long for there matches like most tournaments. There were four matches going on at the same time and had experience referee who did a great job keeping score and declaring the right winner. The Mt. San Antonio Tournament is held twice a year and it is considered the students final, all winner and loser pass the class. If anyone is interested in learning Brazilian Jiu Jiu there will be a community education class held this summer every Tuesday and Thursday starting the first week of summer school approximately at 3:30 pm, Contact Steve del Castillo for more information

UFC FIGHT NIGHT 24 RESULTS:

Noguiera vs Davis, ended up going the distance with a unanimous decision  win for Davis. Lil Nog did not do enough to convice the judges. Anthony Johnson also earn a unaimous decision win over former contender Dan Hardy, in the first round Johnson connected with a high kick to Hardy's head to drop him. From that point on Johnson took over the rest of the match by out grappling Hardy for the win. The UFC saw its first ever Twister (wrestling guillotine) applied by the Korean Zombie Chan Sung Jung also earning the Submission of the night honors. Overall a great night fights, now looking forward to this weekends Strikeforce event Diaz vs Daley for the Strikeforce welterweight title.

UFC FIGHT NIGHT: NOGUEIRA VS DAVIS

LIL NOG (NOGUEIRA) VS MR. WONDERFUL (DAVIS), IS A EXTREMLY IMPORTANT MATCH FOR BOTH OF THESE GUYS. NOGUIERA IS COMING OFF A LOSS AND NEEDS TO WIN TO IMPROVE HIS STOCK AMONG THE LIGHTHEAVY WEIGHT DIVISON. NOGUEIRA HAS THE TOOLS AND EXPERINCE TO PULL OFF A WIN BUT IN HIS LAST TWO BOUTS HE HASN'T BEEN HIS UP TO PAR. IT WOULD BE SMART FOR NOGUIERA TO KEEP THE FIGHT STANDING AND STAY AWAY FROM GROUND. AS FOR DAVIS HE IS ON A STREAK RIGHT NOW WITH DOMINATING VICTORIES OVER HIS LAST THREE OPPONENTS. A TRIUMPH TONIGHT WILL GO ALONG WAY, HE WILL MOVE UP ANOTHER NOTCH AND WILL FACE HIGHER PROFILE FIGHTERS AND BIGGER PAYDAYS. DAVIS NEEDS TO TAKE THIS FIGHT TO THE GROUND AND GRIND IT OUT BUT BE AWARE THAT LIL NOG CAN SUBMIT HIM AT ANY TIME IF HE MAKES A MISTAKE. A LOSS FOR EITHER FIGHTER WILL PUT THEM IN A BAD POSITION IN THEIR STANDINGS.

DAN "THE OUTLAW" HARDY vs ANTHONY "RUMBLE" JOHNSON,SHOULD BE A KICKBOXING WAR. BOTH GUYS ARE COMING OFF LOSSES AND NEED A TO WIN. A LOSS FOR EITHER FIGHTR CAN PUT THEM ON THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINE,THIS COULD BE THE FIGHT OF THE NIGHT.

TONIGHTS CARD ARE LOADED WITH GREAT MATCH UPS THAT HAVE MEANING IN ALL THIER DIVISONS.

UFC 128: SHOGUN VS JONES

THIS WEEKENDS UFC CARD DELIVER AS PROMISE, EVERYTHING FROM KNOCKOUTS, TKO'S AND SOME WENT THE DISTANCE… (ALL THREE ROUNDS) THERE WERE NO SUBMISSIONS UNFORTUATELY. I GOT TO GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE CONGRATLATION JOHN “BONES” JONES ON A DOMINATING VICTORY TO CAPTURE THE UFC LIGHTHEAVY WEIGHT TITLE. (205LBS) JONES BECAME THE YOUNGEST UFC CHAMPION IN THE ORGANIZATION HISTORY AT 23 YEARS OF AGE, JONES TRULY DISMANLTE THE FORMER CHAMP MAURICIO “SHOGUN” RUA. IN THE FIRST ROUND, JONES MADE HIS STATEMENT WITH HIS SIZE AND CAPRICIOUS STYLE OF FIGHTING AND WAS ABLE TO LAND MORE STRIKES THAT CREATED MAJOR DAMAGE ON SHOGUN. SHOGUN LOOKED EXTREMLY EXHAUSTED AFTER THE FIRST ROUND TAKING DEEP BREATHS TRYING NOT TO SHOW FATIGUE. IN THE SECOND, JONES CONTINUE TO DO MORE OF THE SAME, HE PICKED HIS SHOTS AND KEPT HIS OPPOEMENT GUESSING. SHOGUN KEPT TRYING TO ATTACK JONES LEGS BY ATTEMPTING HEELHOOKS (LEG SUBMISSION) IN DESPARATION BUT FAIL EVERYTIME. IN THIRD, JONES JUST LET EVERYTHING GO AND DESTORYED SHOGUN BY CONNECTING WITH ALL HIS STRIKES, SHOGUN WAS FORCE BACK AGAINST THE CAGE AS HE WOBBED TO GET THERE TO RECEIVED A LETHAL KNEE TO HIS CRANIUM WHICH ENDED THE FIGHT. JOHNNY “BONES” JONES IS GOING TO BE A FORCE TO BE RECKON WITH, JONES HAS IMPROVE IN EVERY FIGHT SINCE HIS DEBUT BY A LAGRE MARGIN. HIS NEXT OPPOENET WILL BE HIS FORMER TARNING PARTNER AND MENTOR RASHAD EVANS TO MAKE HIS FIRST TITLE DEFENCE.
THE REST OF THE CARD,
URIJAH FABER WAS TOO MUCH FOR FORMER CHAMP EDDIE WINELAND, FABER GOT THE UNANIMOUS DECISION 29-28 ON ALL THE CARDS.
JIM MILLER WECLOMED KAMAL SHALORUS TO THE UFC BY LANDING A KNEE TO THE CHIN OF SHALORUS PUTTING HIM TO SLEEP AND MANAGE TO SNEAK IN A FEW MORE STRIKES BEFORE THE REF STOPPED THE MATCH.
NATE MARQUARDT WINS A NON-IMPRESSIVE FIGHT OVER LAST MINTUE REPLACEMENT DAN MILLER, I REALLY THOUGHT THAT NATE WOULD OF FINISH THE FIGHT IN THE FIRST BUT HE PLAYED IT SAFE THE ENTIRE MATCH. NATE HAD THE SIZE ADVATAGE AND THE EXPIERENCE; I WAS EXTREMELY DISSAPPOINTED WITH HIS PERFORMANCE.
BRENDEN SCHAUD AND LEGEND MIRKO “CRO COP” FILIPOVIC, WAS A BACK AND FORTH DUEL. IN THE END SCHAUD THE FORMER NFL PLAYER MANAGE TO GET THE DEVASTATING KNOCKOUT IN THE THIRD TO END THE FIGHT AND MAYBE CRO COPS CAREER...
